Scaffolding
Scaffolding is the amount of structure the teacher uses to support the student’s work on a PST.
When the student is less experienced and less skillful in working on problems such as those in PSTs, the teacher provided more structured help and support along the way, e.g., the teacher provides more scaffolding. The plan is to provide less and less scaffolding over time so that the student becomes a capable, independent, continuously improving problem solver.
